DJ-producer Carly Foxx is on a musical journey, immersing herself in the life of five iconic European cities to find inspiration for a series of new tracks. In this episode, Carly Foxx steps outside of her comfort zone to draw inspiration for her music track from urban youths in London’s grime scene. With fresh eyes, she explores what makes this city unique to the people who live there. Carly interviews people on the street and asks them about the London music scene, which is very lively and diverse. To better understand the urban music scene, Carly pays a visit to RepreZent Radio, where she interviews grime artists. She records street sounds such as a bus driving by, the ticking against a metal door, and police sirens. She also encounters musicians such as beatboxer Beatfox and guitarist Knox and records their music, which she mixes into a brand new track by adding vocals for the finishing touch. DJ-producer Carly Foxx is on a musical journey, immersing herself in the life of five iconic European cities to find inspiration for a series of new tracks. In this episode, Carly Foxx travels to the world’s clubbing capital to inspire her music track and discovers Ibiza’s alternative spiritual side. She starts her journey in San Antonio but discovers this place is mainly about clubbing and drinking - not very inspiring for her music track. The next stop is Old Town, where Carly meets female Ibiza singer Sam Smith, who introduces her to DJ and producer Manu Gonzalez. While talking to him, Carly decides the base of her Ibiza-inspired track should be a Balearic beat, to which she plans to add bongos and castanet samples. Carly travels to the North of the island, where she records bongo player Raul Eiriz, and meets Balearic beat creator DJ Alfredo. Lastly, Carly records Clare Wakeman’s guitar sounds and presents the final result: her Ibiza-inspired Balearic track!

DJ-producer Carly Foxx is on a musical journey, immersing herself in the life of five iconic European cities to find inspiration for a series of new tracks. In this episode, Carly Foxx journeys to Berlin, one of the world’s undisputed techno capitals, and discovers the sound of freedom buried in its history. She starts her journey at the heart of the city: Alexanderplatz. Passersby tell her the music scene is very alternative, and there is a big techno scene, which is why Carly decides to meet up with techno producer Mijk van Dijk. Inspired by his interview, she records some sounds that characterize the city. Carly also records a vocalist and adds the sound of a classic ‘80s synthesizer: the 303. She finalizes her mix in the studio and presents it to a wild Berlin audience in the club.

DJ-producer Carly Foxx is on a musical journey, immersing herself in the life of five iconic European cities to find inspiration for a series of new tracks. In this episode, Carly Foxx travels to Paris, the city of love, for inspiration and discovers its diversity and a creative music scene. To get a grasp of the city, Carly meets up with fashion journalist Annabelle Atshabo, who explains the retro future concept. Then she visits an accordion shop, where she records the playing of Dominique Legrix. Carly also travels to the 14th arrondissement, where she meets the Parisian duo Cheaper Shepherd, who introduces her to Adrien Collet. This music and guitar maker tells her about the guitars he’s building, and plays various percussion instruments Carly records for her track. Then Carly is advised to visit Syncrophone Records, owned by Didier Allyne, who tells her about the popularity of sampling. Singer and songwriter Sarah Eisenfisz helps Carly Foxx complete the track by adding French vocals to it. Just wait until you hear the result!

DJ-producer Carly Foxx is on a musical journey, immersing herself in the life of five iconic European cities to find inspiration for a series of new tracks. In this episode, Carly Foxx travels to Amsterdam to influence her music track and discovers it is a lot more experimental than she imagined. After exploring the streets of Amsterdam and interviewing passersby, Carly meets up with Steim director Dick Rijken. He and his students design electronic instruments that encourage experimentation. She records various instruments and adds them to her track. Then, in the central library, Carly finds a young pianist who plays his compositions for her to record. After that, Carly travels to the North of Amsterdam to meet with DJ David Leese, who introduces her to the Amsterdam clubbing scene. Together they visit the Genetic Choir. Back in London, Carly Foxx puts together her music track and presents it in the club.
